19.09.2008 Letter of Support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs:
On 9th September 2008, the Minister of Economic Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Bohdan M. Danylyshyn, signed an official letter, in which he confirmed that the Ministry will support the objectives and activities of the PROTECT project.
It is emphasised that the project reinforces links between universities, industry and authorities. This project gives an opportunity to identify the problems of research community and combine efforts for the promotion of innovative activities in Ukraine. The success of such a project can be achieved only by integrating all players on the national level. There is another aspect which is considered to be vital. The Office for technology transfer and entrepreneurial activities support will be established in Cherkasy region. Unlike the situation in the capital, where numerous business projects and programmes are successfully running and receive considerable support from central state authorities, the situation in the region needs a set of urgent measures aimed at creating effective mechanism of technology transfer from university research to business and facilitating innovative activities of enterprises. That’s why the project is focused on setting up the system of support in the typical regional higher educational establishment – Cherkasy State Technological University, and thus wants to pass on the obtained experiences to other regions in the country.
By this letter, the PROTECT project gained acknowledgement on the national political level.
